South Lanarkshire Council spending to be cut by £12 million

CUTS? What cuts? Council taxpayers in Clydesdale might be forgiven for asking where that word has almost disappeared to.

For South Lanarkshire Council has announced that it has provisionally agreed its budget for 2012/13, widely predicted to be the toughest financial year yet for local authorities.

And rather than cuts, the word savings is used to describe the £12 million that is to be shaved off previously planned council expenditure in the new financial year, starting in April.
