Southsiders tackle the Women’s 10k

Thousands of women braved the rain on Sunday to run, jog or walk the Morrisons Great Women’s 10k — and southsiders were no exception.

We asked Facebook and Twitter followers to send in their best pictures from the day, and first in line was Fraser Heenan, congratulating friend Jen Bremner on completing the race 
with Team Hope.

The Netherlee woman is fundraising for cancer charity Maggie’s, and has already surpassed her initial target of £1,000, raking in more than £6,000 and counting at www.justgiving.com/

The mum of two is battling a cancer diagnosis and was hailed by Paula Radcliffe as an “inspiration” at Sunday’s 10k.

Iain Stoddart was also in touch to share a pic of wife Laura and her friend Debbie Robertson, who ran the 10k for local charity 
Callum’s Causes.

Laura, from Netherlee, and Debbie, from Newton Mearns, have raised £400 so far in memory of four-year-old Callum Lally, a Netherlee Nursery pupil whose life was cut tragically short while waiting for a heart operation.

Callum’s mum Catriona has been running Callum’s Causes since in aid of Yorkhill Children’s Charity, and has raised almost £15,000 — see www.justgiving.com/CallumsCauses/ for more info.
