Spate of disappearances prompts missing pet advice

Over the past month a high number of appeals have been made regarding missing cats and dogs with reports also being made of home owners finding pets on their door step.

Scottish SPCA Chief Superintendent Mike Flynn said: “Owners of missing cats can register their details with our Animal Helpline on 03000 999 999.

“If their cat comes into our care we will be able to notify them.

“We would also advise all owners to have their cats microchipped so if they do go missing they can be reunited quickly.”

Meanshile, the heartbroken owner of the latest missing pet - six-year-old tomcat Ginger - has appealed for any information on his whereabouts from locals.

Ginger disappeared from his home in Ellisland Road several weeks ago. He has a telltale faint white tip at the end of the tail and distinctive “tiger-style” markings.

Owner Lisa Bain says Ginger is a very friendly cat who is not above slipping through other cat flaps - and has even been found lounging on a stranger’s bed!
