Special guest expected after clearing his diary for Cumbernauld’s youngsters

Our contacts in the North Pole have confirmed that Santa will be making himself at home in the Antonine Centre from Saturday.

They have liaised with Cumbernauld Rotary Club whose members have been tasked with building a grotto bordering Dunnes Stores and Costa.

Santa’s Saturday stint will run from 11.30pm to 4.30pm but this very busy man has so much to attend to that he won’t return to Cumbernauld until the following Saturday.

He will then work tirelessly each day until Christmas Eve within this same time frame.

Santa’s main aim in Cumbernauld will be to find out who has been naughty or nice.

He will of course be asking youngsters then and only then, what they want for Christmas.

Professor Frank Clark of Cumbernauld Rotary Club said: “Children will be met by an elf and will be able to see and chat to Santa and have their photo taken if they
 want.

“They will receive an age appropriate gift from Santa. The charge is £2 per head and any surplus we make will be used to support local charities.

Professor Clark added: “We’d like to thank Denis and Catherine, the Costa franchisees.

“They have generously agreed to roster some of their younger baristas to act as elves.

“The full cost of this will be meet by them and this is fantastic.”

The grotto has become a very welcome fixture in the mall and last year, a total of 450 children visited it.
