Splashing out on canal path to ease cycle fears

A STRETCH of the Forth and Clyde Canal towpath between Bishopbriggs Leisuredome and Milton has been revamped after concerns from a cyclist.

Bishopbriggs resident Stephen MacMillan, who wanted to use the towpath to cycle safely into work, alerted East Dunbartonshire MP Jo Swinson to the bog-like conditions on the route.

The MP took the matter up with British Waterways Scotland. They arranged for drains to be unblocked and a build up of surface water cleared.

Ms Swinson said: “These improvements will help put the canal towpath back in working condition for cyclists – a great result for locals, as well as visitors to the area.”
