St Ninian’s sweep the board with phone apps

ENTERPRISING pupils at St Ninian’s high swept the board at the Young Enterprise Scotland Renfrewshire final recently, bringing home an impressive five awards.

The 12-strong sixth year team took their own firm, Full House Apps, to the event at the Paisley campus of the University of the West of Scotland, where they were awarded best overall company of the year, best overall company in East Renfrewshire, the IBM innovation award, best business report and best overall company for marketing.

The accolades were presented for two apps developed by the group for Android phones – word game What Vowels? And healthy eating guide 5-a-Day – both of which have proved very successful.

And the young entrepreneurs are already expanding, as they’re in talks with local firms to create bespoke smartphone apps.

Education and equalities convener Paul O’Kane commented: “This is an outstanding achievement by St Ninian’s high school.

“To take five of the seven trophies available is absolutely terrific and I congratulate each and every one of the students.”
