S. Collins and Son – of Lindsaybeg Road, Muirhead – has been presented with the honour at a glitzy event in London.

Owner Stewart Collins said: “We’re absolutely delighted to have received the award and our thanks go to our staff for their hard work and our customers for their support.

“We hope to continue to go from strength to strength and to build on the quality of products and service which we have been focused on achieving for the past 57 years.

“We’re thrilled to have received this award and be recognised for our hard work. Winning awards for our products at the Smithfields was great, but to win Butcher Shop of the Year really is the icing on the cake.”

The shop employs 18 staff and was established in 1955.

After three years as a finalist in the award, sponsored by the Scotch Butchers Club and part of the national competition run by Meat Trades Journal, S. Collins & Son were pleased to finally win.

It adds to a growing tally of prizes won by the butcher shop. The shop has around 500 product lines and is particularly well-known for its steaks, sausages and steak pies.
