Storm Boelo: Glasgow weather warning upraged to Amber for weekend as 63mph gusts forecast
The Met Office has elevated its weather warning for Glasgow to amber for the upcoming weekend, with Storm Boelo set to bring powerful winds reaching 63mph and heavy rainfall, prompting concerns over potential flooding and travel disruption.
Glasgow could be hit by gusts of up to 63mph after the Met Office upgraded its weather warning to amber for Saturday and Sunday.

The city is braced for further wet and windy conditions over the weekend as a result of Storm Boelo. An almost nationwide yellow wind warning will also be in place from 6pm on Saturday until 9pm on Sunday.
The weekend forecast follows a yellow warning that came into force at 6am on Friday, with Storm Austen expected to bring heavy rain across most parts of Scotland.

The Met Office said there was a “small chance” that homes and businesses could be flooded, potentially damaging buildings. Flooded roads could also leave some communities cut off, while power cuts are possible.
Passengers have been advised to check whether trains and buses are running before travelling. Drivers could face difficult conditions because of spray and flooding, with road closures also possible.
ScotRail services to and from Aberdeen, between Glasgow Central and Edinburgh, and between Glasgow Central and Carlisle may be affected by speed restrictions or cancellations. Traffic Scotland urged motorists to monitor the latest updates.
Ferry operator CalMac said on X, formerly Twitter, that several services could also face disruption.
The Scottish Environment Protection Agency (Sepa) has 11 flood alerts in place across the same areas covered by the Met Office’s yellow warning.
Flood alerts are the least severe of the three tiers used by Sepa’s flood information system. Flood warnings and severe flood warnings are issued when conditions worsen, but none are currently in place.
