STRIKE – couple ho-pin to bowl for 12 hours

A PAIR of brilliant bowlers will be aiming to strike gold this Saturday ... for a great cause.

Sharon and Frank Moncrieff are taking part in a sponsored 12-hour bowl-a-thon to raise funds for Carers Link East Dunbartonshire.

Sharon (47) and Frank (55) aim to bowl continuously from 11am to 11pm this Saturday (June 16) at Pro Bowl, in Kirkintilloch.

Sharon, who is partially sighted, is the volunteer manager with the charity, which is dedicated to carers and provides a range of services for people who live or care within the area.

The couple will be given support by Carers Link volunteers who will be bowling in the lane alongside them.

Sharon started a ten-pin bowling group for adults with visual impairments, which plays in a national league.

Both she and husband Frank play in a league at Pro Bowl.

Sharon said: “We both love bowling. We thought this would be a good way to have fun and raise funds for Carers Link at the same time.

“The charity needs to raise £10,000 this year. We will be bowling continuously. If one of us has a break, the other will keep going.

“We’re really looking forward to it.”

The bowl-a-thon has been organised as part of Carers’ Week, which runs from June 18 to 24. This year’s theme is ‘In Sickness and in Health’.
