The deal, from Strathclyde Partnership for Transport, will run until July 2017 and is part of an overall £1 million SPT package aimed at maintaining socially necessary local bus services across the region.

SPT Operations Committee Chair Denis McKenna said: “Commercial operators consider these routes commercially unviable, meaning the local communities they serve risk losing vital transport links.”
