The women, accounting students at Glasgow College of Commerce, had been going shopping during a free period when the car mounted the pavement and crashed into them. The driver, Bishopbriggs DJ William Payne, had lost consciousness at the wheel.

Charges of causing death by driving while uninsured were dropped, and although criminal investigations began again following last year’s fatal accident inquiry, Mr Payne was notified in March that he would not be prosecuted.

On the fifth anniversary of the crash, relatives gathered at the location to remember their loved ones and support each other.
