She said: “Giving our young people the skills they need to be at the cutting edge of our economy and our jobs market is vital for their future and for the future of our economy.

“That means learning from our traditional industries, expanding support for science, maths, engineering and vocational training, building greater connections between industry, schools and colleges and ensuring our young people are able to see the huge opportunities ahead of them.”

Ms Adamson added: “The project is an organisation at the centre of the community and I was delighted to welcome Nicola Sturgeon to meet with children and volunteers.

“Last week we saw that the SNP can deliver for Motherwell and Wishaw – with strong action taken to secure the future of the Tata Steel Works in Dalzell and Clydebridge.

“An SNP government re-elected for a historic third term would deliver serious investment in high-level apprenticeships, giving young people in communities like Craigneuk the skills they need for the jobs of the future.”
