Summer activities to keep the kids busy

Youngsters can have a summer of sporty and fun activities thanks to East Renfrewshire Culture and Leisure.

There will be something for kids of all ages to enjoy in this year’s Summer Holiday Activities programme from July 3 to August 11.

A wide range of activities from football, swimming, basketball and athletics to sports camps, arts and crafts, drama, reading and the ever-popular Superhero Academy.

Local venues like Williamwood, Eastwood, Mearns Castle and Woodfarm High Schools, Eastwood Park Leisure’s pool and theatre and the Mearns, Clarkston, Giffnock, Busby, Eaglesham and Thornliebank Libraries and Eastwood High Sports Centre will host the camps and events.

Chief executive of ERCL, Anthony McReavy said: “There’s no chance of youngsters feeling bored during the school summer holidays as we’ve got an amazing array of activities for them to take part in.

“We aim to give young people a summer of fun and sporting activity that will not only keep them fit and healthy, but also stretch their imaginations and teach them new arts and craft skills.”
