This is the 10th year the group - made up of 15 boys and one girl from 1st Kilsyth, four from 5th Kirkintilloch, six from 60th Glasgow, and 10 leaders - visited the centre.

The youngsters tried canoeing, mountain biking, an Army assault course, abseiling, archery, quad bikes and a giant swing.

Susan Taylor, officer in charge, said: “Everyone young and old had a great time participating and conquering fears and targets they never thought they would.

“The weather was very kind this year which was an added bonus when you are outside from 9am to 9pm.

“The centre has excellent chalet facilities for groups and the food was excellent too, gone are the days when you used a tent and a hole in the ground for the toilet.

“The boys and leaders went home very tired, very dirty but very happy.”

Meanwhile, the group also held their seventh annual sleepover in the Burns and Old Parish Church hall recently raising money for two charities in the process.

Both Yorkhill Intensive Care Unit Ward 2b and Barnardo’s Scotland will be benefit from money raised at the event.
