Summer of fundraising fun for East Ren girls

Summer holidays can drag on — but a group of East Ren girls have made the most of theirs, raising more than £700 for Macmillan Cancer Support and other charities.

Caitlin Anderson (11), Rebecca Anderson (9), Ava Wallace (9), Isla Wallace (7), Eve Greenhalgh
(11) and Ella Greenhalgh (9) dedicated their summer play to organising a family fun day.

The girls — all St Joseph’s and Busby primary pupils — made their own posters and advertised around the neighbourhood in the run up to the
 event.

In addition to the fun day the girls also organised a tombola, arts and crafts, bric a brac, a toy and book stalls, and lots of home-baked treats.

According to mum Sarah Jane Anderson, the event was a “massive success” — and the kind-hearted youngsters have
decided to split the total amount raised between Macmillan, WWF and local special needs school Isobel Mair.

Sarah Jane told The Extra: “As parents, we’re bursting with pride for them.

“It was a lovely way to spend part of their holidays, focusing on helping others.”
