Sun shines on a great Live line-up in Cumbernauld

THE kids might have returned back to school but that did not stop them having fun at the weekend as Cumbernauld hosted a fun-filled live music event.

Cumbernauld Live returned on Saturday, August 18, to the town centre and boasted a whole range of performers from pop stars to bagpipe-playing rockers.

Acts that took to the stage including dance school Dance in Step, bagpipe enthusiasts Bags of Rock, singer Ashley Collins, country music act Raintown and tribute artistes Paolo Martini, Could it Be Take That, Stepz and Anna-Rih.

Fairground rides and other attractions also kept families entertained at the event which aims to bring the community together and promote Cumbernauld’s town centre.

While the event didn’t draw in the massive crowds of previous years it did have an enthusiastic gathering, who were given over three hours of great, free entertainement.

Jack Duffy, of Town Centre Activities, said: “This year’s Cumbernauld Live was full of variety with acts ranging from pop to rock!

“A great day was had by all who came along and we were lucky enough to have some sunshine on the day.

“It was a great way to finish our summer programme and we look forward to working with our Cumbernauld partners in preparation for the Christmas Lights Switch On.”
