That’s a question the Gazette has been asked by readers over the past few weeks since the Carluke store opened and drivers have been able to compare pump prices with its `sister’ Tesco, opened over a year ago in Lesmahagow.
At the moment the Carluke Tesco customers appear to be getting the better deal, being charged 129p per litre while the Gow Tesco filling station was charging 134p on Monday, 22.5p a gallon more.

One driver said: “I don’t think it was any coincidence at the start of one week that another filling station in Carluke was charging around the 131p a litre and the Carluke Tesco obviously brought its price down to meet or even beat that.

“If you were buying something else from Tesco, like, say, a packet of digestive biscuits, you wouldn’t expect to pay more for them at one Tesco than at another one just ten miles away.”
