The initiative is the result of a partnership between East Renfrewshire Community Health and Care Partnership (CHCP) and Alzheimer Scotland to raise awareness of dementia friendly communities.
Leading the training was the CHCP’s Zaid Tariq, who said: “Older people, including those with dementia, are often more frequent customers of town centre shops.

“Around 1,600 people in East Renfrewshire are living with dementia and this number will only increase in the coming years.
“This training programme will help both retailers and The Avenue management team understand dementia and learn how they can help those shoppers living with dementia in our community.”
