The developers are coming

A MAJOR planning application which could put further pressure on East Renfrewshire’s green belt is on the horizon.

Gladman Developments Ltd submitted a proposal for a 46 acre residential development on land to the west of Glasgow Road.

West of Scotland MSP Jackson Carlaw has written to Waterfoot residents to canvas their opinions.

He told The Extra: “This application is of real concern to the people of the village.

“I have taken the opportunity to consult residents on this important matter to ensure that I hear all views.

“It is vital that people make their objections heard and not allow this wanton destruction of the ever diminishing green belt in our community to go unchallenged.”

A public event will be held by the developer on Tuesday, March 25 from 2pm to 8pm at Mearns Castle Golf Academy.

Eaglesham and Waterfoot community council and local members have been advised of the submission of the proposal of application notice.

Eastwood MSP Ken Macintosh MSP added: “Any large-scale residential development in Waterfoot will surely be against the democratically approved plan for the area.

Any such proposal will be vigorously opposed by me and local residents.”

The earliest date an official planning application can be submitted is May 20 this year.

In January, councillors approved proposals to build more than 4,000 new homes in East Renfrewshire.
