The sixth annual community event took place on Saturday and Sunday at Queen’s Park recreation grounds, despite rain and mud flooding the area on the opening day.

Visitor figures may not have topped last year’s - 15,000 on the Saturday alone, perhaps as a result of the sunny weather - but southsiders braved the rain in wellies and waterproofs to listen to live music, browse community stalls and take a spin on the dodgems.

The weather improved by Sunday, and festival-goers flocked back to see headliners Glenn Tilbrooke and Bombskare.

Organisers were looking on the bright side, commenting: “I guess we are now a real festival because we’ve got mud!”

Official Twitter feed @ssidefestival added: “The biggest thanks in the world to our fabulous volunteer stewards - absolute stars and we love you.”

And it appears Extra readers were out in force, with many of you sharing your experience and photos by email or on Facebook and Twitter.

Facebook follwers Lynn and Neil Lovelock even spotted themselves in one of our pictures, and added that they were enjoying “a lovely summer stroll” amid the “fine festival weather”.
