Thieves set cash grabbing trap at Carnwath ATM

The police state that sometime between 5pm on Friday, April 1, and 3.40pm April 3, a cash trap device - which can catch the notes before they get to the customer - was installed to the ATM at the Royal Bank of Scotland in Main Street Carnwath.

Members of the public are asked to be vigilant around cash machines, and to report anything out of the ordinary they see at the machine.

And among other incidents in recent days was a break in at the Harry Smith Centre in Lanark.

That happened shortly after midnight on April 2. About 00.35 the alarm was activated at the Centre, in Thomas Taylor Avenue, Lanark, and the till was smashed by intruders looking for money - the police add that money is not left in the till at close of business.

And between 1pm on March 31 and 10am on April 2 approximately 400 litres of oil was stolen from a storage tank at Wiston Mill Farm, Wiston, Biggar. Witnesses are sought.

In Biggar, between 22.30 on April 3, and 6am the following morning 00 on the 04/04/16, an attempt was made to gain entry to the Co-op in Biggar business park.
