Three cheers for Cathcart ladies

GIRLS Night Out at Cathcart Trinity church proved a big draw recently, providing a boost for an international children’s charity.

The celebrity-hosted event, running April 18-19, was in aid of World Vision UK, which funds development of education and AIDs awareness.

Television presenter Carrie Grant joined comedian Jo Enright on stage, each having completed a World Vision trip to Uganda, to encourage the ladies in attendance to sponsor a child.

The event was organised by a partnership of four churches – Cathcart Trinity, Cathcart baptist, Cathcart united free and Netherauldhouse evangelical.

Reverend Derrick Watson, of Cathcart baptist church, told The Extra: “There were between 300 and 350 ladies there each night, and a strong response during, with the sponsorship of about 80 children across Africa and Asia through World Vision – and more followed subsequently.”

He added a “huge thanks to all involved”.
