Creative director Phil Supple - the man behind the ceramic poppy installation at The Tower of London and Speed of Light in Edinburgh — promises fire, light and original music and sound scores for Rouken Glen.

He commented: “We’ll be building on the success of our original programme in 2013 and returning to light up the whole perimeter of the famous boating pond in technicolour.

“I’m exploring research into the historical design output of the Thornliebank Printworks and am working with some great digital artists to produce an animated projection work next to the Auldhouse Burn, shedding light on some of the 200 year old commercial patterns alongside contemporary Scottish designs in fantastic artwork.

“Electric Glen will celebrate the incredible design heritage and unique landscape of Rouken Glen using the talents of some of the nation’s finest contemporary landscape and outdoor artists.”

Councillor Tony Buchanan, convener for infrastructure and sustainable growth, said: “We are very excited to be working with such a highly respected and high profile team on the new event.

“This creative and extremely popular family event has sold out in previous years and with the winter 2016 festival promising to be bigger and better than ever, we’re expecting a huge demand.”
