Nominations are now being accepted and there are less than two weeks left to secure a spot on the shortlist.

Brian Muirie, Director of Dieselec Thistle Generators, said: “Winning the 2014 Best Large Employer award has no doubt helped us continue to grow and improve. The award raised our profile locally, bringing opportunities from local customers and suppliers alike.”

Caulders Gardens Centres won Independent Retailer of the Year at the 2014 awards and since then the company has expanded to take on a new garden centre in Erskine. It is also developing its business based at Mugdock Country Park.

Owner Colin Barrie said: “We were very pleased to be one of the winners at the 2014 Business Awards - the prestigious honour was a real feather in the cap for the company and all our employees.”

The 2015 awards will be presented at a dinner to be held on Friday, May 29, at The Eagle Lodge in Bishopbriggs. Winners will receive a trophy, promotion within the local media and access to one day’s fully-funded support for their business.

Councillor Alan Moir, convener of development and regeneration, added, “We want to hear about the fantastic work we know is taking place locally within boardrooms, workshops, hostelries, social enterprises and retail outlets across the area.

“If you are a business within East Dunbartonshire which has achieved success over the past year then I would encourage you to nominate yourself and share your story.

“Similarly, if you are aware of a local business or enterprise which you feel deserves recognition for growth, development, achievement or innovation over the last year, then I would also urge you to encourage them to apply for the awards.
