Tinto Village Day 2010

CHILDREN and adults alike donned rubber sumo suits at Tinto Village Day, before having comical wrestling bouts.

It was one of the highlights of several events staged at Symington Football Club on Saturday.

"I was desperate to have a go at it myself but I was too busy organising everything else," joked organiser, Tinto Village Day committee member Jane Stevens.

The day also featured a pet show with a diverse range of animals including three giant African land snails dogs, stick insects, a rat, goldfish and even a lamb!

Around 30 people were in the fancy dress parade led up Symington Main Street and into the football ground by Biggar Pipe Band.

P2 Coulter Primary pupil Freya Stevenson, of Symington, was voted as the winner thanks to her sensational Avatar costume.

Youngsters also enjoyed rollerskating on a Radworx skatepark, climbing a 60ft high wall courtesy of Terminal One and competing in running, egg and spoon and three legged races.
