The first phase of the North Lanarkshire Council initiative involves the refurbishment of King Street car park. It is expected the work will take contractor Stewart Landscapes eight weeks.
During that period, a minimum of 10 spaces are expected to be available, though it may be necessary to close the car park fully on two Sundays.

Access for deliveries and the emergency services will be maintained.
Councillor James Coyle, planning and transportation convener, said: “The environmental improvements in Kilsyth are designed to enhance the existing character of the town centre and make it more accessible for everyone.”

As well as the King Street car park improvements, ‘Welcome to Kilsyth’ signs are to be installed, as are information boards.

A number of key pedestrian routes will be upgraded, while disabled access from Burnbank Terrace to Stirling Road will be enhanced.
