Toy giveaway in Forgewood

A free toy giveaway for families who may be struggling this Christmas takes place in Forgewood Community Centre on Sunday.

The idea of the giveaway is to allow people to help each other at this time of year through sharing their pre-loved toys and games.

Martine Nolan organised her first giveaway in Wishaw last year and held another in Coltness last month which proved such a success she has decided to turn her attention to Motherwell.

Martine said: “Children outgrow toys so before Santa arrives at Christmas with new ones, parents often have a toy cull.

“No child should be without something on Christmas morning and no parent should be in debt to bring a smile to their child’s face.

“Although there are groups that help those in need, they do not always reach every child and family that need their help and that is why the toy giveaway is open to all.

“Most of these toys are still in great condition having been played with only a few times as children often have favourites.

“So instead of toys going to waste theey can help other children at Christmas.”

The hall open for donations tomorrow (Saturday) from 4-7pm and the giveaway itself is on Tuesday from noon-2pm.
