The Chryston & Muirhead Business Community group is holding a meeting at 7pm tonight (Wednesday) in the Crowwood Hotel and and local firms have been urged to attend.

Butcher Stewart Collins said: “We want to get across to local people that they don’t have to shop out of town or in the big supermarkets. Everything they need is here on their doorstep. So far we have about 15 local firms who have signed up to the action group.”

A Facebook page has also been created to get the message across.

Stewart added: “It’s also about building a community spirit and taking pride in your local area.”

The action group, chaired by Ian Osborne of local building firm McEwan Osborne, also has the backing of the
local community council.

Other aims of the action group include campaigning on issues affecting local firms, maximising opportunities from local and national community events, forming business alliances and targeted marketing campaigns.
