Transport grant encourages East Ren drivers to go electric
Drivers investing in electric cars will soon have access to vehicle charging points across East Renfrewshire.
East Ren Council has received a £78,000 grant from Transport Scotland to install electric vehicle charging points in a bid to reduce carbon emissions and encourage a more environmentally-friendly mode of transport.
There will be five Plugged In Places, with rapid charging behind the Shell garage on Rouken Glen Road and further charging points at the car park opposite the Cartvale Pub on Main St, Busby, at Neilston train station, at the council’s Eastwood HQ and at Barrhead Foundry.
An ERC spokeswoman confirmed: “The electricity is free along with the parking while using the charging points.”
