Thousands of people clad in Santa suits will be taking part in the annual festive event in the city centre and First Glasgow is supporting the Santa Dash again this year with the offer of free First Day ticket to cover travel for any participants dressed in a Santa suit on the day.

Last year saw 8,500 Santa Dashers participating, with even more expected this year. Well above £200,000 has been raised for charity since the launch of the event in 2006 and this year’s chosen good cause is once again the Beatson Cancer Charity.

First Glasgow Operations Director, Duncan Cameron said: “We’re delighted to be once again supporting the Santa Dash with free travel and this year each participant has received a free day ticket redemption code in their registration packs. This is a wonderful event and a great spectacle which really captures the true spirit of Christmas, and we’re wishing everyone all the very best for a fun day out to raise money for such a worthy cause.”

Depute Lord Provost, Philip Braat said: “The Santa Dash is a unique festive occasion featuring thousands of people in Santa costumes running to raise money for the Beatson Cancer Charity, the Lord Provost’s Children’s Fund and other charitable causes. This fantastic offer of free bus travel from First Bus will make it even easier for runners to arrive at the start line in peak condition for the last major run of the year in Glasgow. I’m looking forward to starting the event and taking part alongside all the other Santas and their supporters at this unforgettable event.”

The Santa Dashers will be under starter’s orders at 10am in George Square. The warm-up starts at 9.30am and roads are expected to be busy with some diversions in place, so please allow plenty of time for your journey.
