Road in Barrhead due to be closed until November

Improvements to Balgraystone Road, opposite St Luke’s High School in Barrhead, are underway as part of East Renfrewshire’s Glasgow City Region City Deal investment.

The road will be closed from Tuesday, June 11, until November to allow work to be carried out safely on the realignment of the carriageway.

A diversion route will be in place via Springfield Road and Glanderston Road.

The work is part of the Enhanced Road Network programme, improving connections between Barrhead, Newton Mearns and the M77.

The 500m northern section of Balgraystone Road (opposite St Luke’s High School) will be reconstructed to form a local access road.

This will provide safe and direct access to the Country Park, facilitate development of the first 200 of around 1000 houses in Barrhead South, and create access to the planned new railway station and bus interchange expected 2021.
