Tree planted in memory of Carluke boy Ben Hastie

A TREE has been planted at Carluke’s Crawforddyke Primary School in memory of former pupil Ben Hastie, who was killed in a freak road accident three years ago.

Ben’s mum Liz Anderson, of Elmbank Street, joined her niece Stephanie O’Nahony and a group of Ben’s former classmates – including close friends Jack Gray, Amy Allan and Kerr Burns – at a moving 30-minute ceremony led by acting head teacher Marion Girdwood.

“It was a very emotional occasion,” said Liz.
