Tribute paid to Crawforddyke Primary teacher Linda Thomson

STAFF and parents at Crawforddyke Primary have paid tribute to teacher Linda Thomson who died over the Christmas holiday period.

Mrs Thomson died recently after battling cancer for a number of months.

She had been teaching at Crawforddyke for 16 years but had become unwell in the summer and, sadly, could not begin teaching her primary two class again.

Headteacher Marjorie Maule paid tribute to Mrs Thomson.

She said: "She had been in the school for more than 15 years so Linda was well known by both current and former pupils.

"She had been fine even before the summer holidays – it happened so fast.

"Linda was such a caring and gentle lady. She worked hard throughout her years here at Crawforddyke and was well loved by all the pupils.

"She was also a great colleague to work with. I'm sure there are many people who will remember her.

"Many of her current and former colleagues attended her funeral, which shows how highly thought of she was."

Despite being given chemotherapy, Mrs Thomson's condition worsened.

She was also being carefully looked after by the Macmillan Nurses and, as a result, was able to spend Christmas Day with her family around her.

Mrs Thomson leaves behind her mum, husband Miller, three daughters, a son and four grandchildren.

Her funeral took place at Holytown Crematorium on Saturday, January 8.
