Tributes to young man who died after being hit by a bus

A young North Lanarkshire man who died after he jumped from a moving cab on the M8 in Glasgow and was hit by a bus, has been named.

Lyle Rushbury, 23, of Stepps got out of the Peugeot E7 private hire taxi, as it was travelling west, near J15 Townhead, at about 12.30am on Tuesday, May 24.

He was then struck by the coach. Paramedics later pronounced him dead at the scene.

Police want to speak to anyone who was in a vehicle in the area at the time, particularly passengers on the bus.

Insp Janet Dickie said: “There would have been other cars driving on the motorway around the time of this incident and it is important we speak to anyone who witnessed what happened.

“In particular we would like to speak to any passengers on the bus involved who may have information to assist with our inquiries.”

Dozens of friends and loved ones have paid tribute to the popular young man online.
