Unit sells for nearly £2m

CUMBERNAULD can lay further claim to be competing with the big boys of the haulage industry after a giant distribution unit was snapped up in Wardpark.

Previously locations like Cambuslang and Bellshill were the hotspots of the distribution trade - but the sale of the 26,447 purpose-built Axis Park Unit could change all that.

For it has been snapped up by London-based company Hambalt Limited for a cool £1.96 million.

The facility’s selling point was its strong transport links with the rest of Scotland. Strategically located 1.6 miles from junction three of the M73 and the newly upgraded M80, it boasts no fewer than 10 loading docks.

Axis Park was built by construction firm Keiller, whose director Crawford Geddes said: “It’s a development the company is proud to have built. It’s a fantastic facility designed to meet the needs of modern-day distribution.’’
