The suspect then ran out of the bank with a four figure sum of cash leaving the bank staff unhurt but extremely shaken. He was last seen running across Abbeygreen Park and onto a small bridge.

The suspect is described as white, 5ft 10 – 6ft tall, slim build, early 20’s and was wearing a grey cotton tracksuit with a black scarf covering his lower face.

He was also carrying a black backpack on his back.

Detective Constable Christopher Norton at Wishaw CID said: “This was a very traumatic experience for the women working in the bank and thankfully one that did not physically harm them.

“I would like to speak to anyone who may have seen the suspect hanging around outside the bank prior to the robbery taking place or anyone who recognises his description or seen him running off afterwards.

“I’d also like to speak to anyone who is presented with banknotes that are red dyed stained as the packs of stolen notes would be covered in red dye when burst open.”

Anyone with any information that could assist enquiries is asked to contact Wishaw CID on telephone number 101 or alternatively CRIMESTOPPERS on 0800 555 111 where anonymity can be maintained.
