Urban bees produce first honeycomb

Battlefield Rest apiarists are celebrating the sweet taste of success as the first of their worker bees have created the restaurant’s first honeycomb on the rooftop beehive.

Owner Marco Giannasi proudly shows of the comb that will provide the first of the honey produce that will take pride of place as the hero ingredient on the menu.

The idea for hosting an beehive is to take advantage of the richness of flora in what is believed to be the world’s first garden suburb. It will also inform visits from schools and community organisations about the important role that bees play in the global food chain.
