Vandalised post box row continues

Royal Mail have been forced to make a second apology to locals after taking four months to replace a vandalised post box.

In April, the pillar box in Fleming Road was destroyed by louts.

When we reported on the matter, Royal Mail promised that moves were afoot to restore it.

However, the population of Seafar is still without a post box.

That’s just not good enough, according to MP Gregg McClymont whose constituency office is nearby.

He said: “This falls far short of the standard of service we should expect from Royal Mail. Seafar residents have already put up with this eyesore vandalism for long enough.”

His Labour colleague Councillor Stephanie Muir has also received complaints.

She added:“After numerous phone calls Royal Mail told me that residents would not have to wait long and I took them at their word.

“This causes inconvenience for those who need to post letters regularly, especially elderly people.”

A Royal Mail spokesperson, said: “We apologise to customers for the delay but the new postbox should be installed within a fortnight.”
