Vandals attack cars parked at welfare club

HUNDREDS of pounds worth of damage was caused in Croy after vandals targeted the car park of Croy Miners’ Welfare on Tuesday night (October 18)

A total of three vehicles were scratched and gouged at some point between 7.30pm and 9.30pm, after their owners were attending an event inside the venue.

In a separate incident, also in Croy, police are on the lookout for hooligans who damaged the doors of two homes in the village during a disturbance on Sunday

Officers want to talk to anyone in Hillside around 2.15am when a group of people caused a disturbance on the threshhold.

Elsewhere, goods worth hundreds of pounds have been stolen from a car parked in Greenfaulds. A Nissan Micra Primera packed on Melrose Road was targeted overnight last Thursday (October 20) when a window was smashed

A sat nav system and a laptop were removed from the car – and police want to speak to anyone who may have witnessed this.

Garages made available to residents of a Cumbernauld high-rise block have been targed by thieves. Several premises near Graham House in Berryhill Road were broken into on Sunday morning.

Police have heard reports that a trio of males were seen in the area around 4am – one of whom is thought to be as young as 11.

All were wearing dark hooded tops and one of the males was said to be wearing “distinctive” red tracksuit trousers.

A BT van parked outside the company’s very own telephone exchange has been targeted in a theft.

Police are also probing the theft of a luxury white Audi 3 car which was stolen from the Premier Inn car park at Muirhead overnight on Saturday.
