Vicious attack on pub-goer

The incident happened at around 11.30pm on Friday, when the 24-year-old man left a pub in Lochinvar Road with some friends.

As he left the premises he was approached by a group of men outside the bar and following an altercation they assaulted him.

Unfortunately, there is no description available of the suspects.

The man was taken to Monklands Hospital, where he was treated for facial injuries and later released.

Detective Constable Michael Reynolds of Cumbernauld CID said: “This was a particularly vicious assault on the man and I am appealing to anyone who was in the area of Lochinvar Road, around 11.30pm on Friday, January 7, and who may have witnessed the assault to get in touch.

“At this stage we are trying to piece together exactly what happened.

“Our initial enquiries suggest that he was attacked by a group of men. If you were in the area at the time and witnessed the attack please contact the police as a matter of urgency.”
