Victims of mining disaster remembered at memorial

Hundreds of people gathered for a service to mark the 54th anniversary of the Auchengeich mining disaster on Sunday.

Forty seven men lost their lives during the 1959 Auchengeich Colliery disaster and six men also died at the pit in 1931.

The service was arranged by the Auchengeich Memorial Committee.

Local school children sang and the Salvation Army Band also performed.

The poignant service including speeches and the laying of wreaths.
