Chair of East Dunbartonshire Visually Impaired Forum Sandy Taylor, who is blind, has been leading the campaign against the controversial shared space at Cowgate.
Campaigners are particularly angry at the reopening of all four arms of the Catherine St/Kerr St on Sunday, November 27, without traffic lights, which they say is effectively denying disabled people access to their town centre.

Thousands of people, including Strathkelvin MSP Rona Mackay, have joined them in the protest against East Dunbartonshire Council’s decision to go ahead with the shared space, fearing for the safety of pedestrians.
But the council has rejected their complaints and claims the shared space will make the town centre “more accessible and desirable for all.”
