Visit to Nazi horror camps was life-changing for Biggar students

TWO Biggar High School pupils have described their visit to the Auschwitz Concentration Camps in Poland as “life-changing”.

S5 girls Leona Baillie and Abigail Mould travelled to the camps with over 200 pupils from various schools last month but had no idea how it would affect them.

That all changed when they first visited the original Auschwitz I camp - which is now a museum - before making their way to the Auschwitz-Birkenau extermination camp where thousands of Jews were murdered.

It’s an experience that has left a mark on both 16-year-olds.
