Volunteers dig in at school

A GROUP of kind-hearted, and green-fingered, youngsters from Enable Scotland gave up their Saturday to help transform Balmalloch Primary’s garden recently.

The organisation supports young people aged between 12 and 18 years with learning disabilities.

The youths decided they wanted to undertake a project which would benefit their local area as a “thank you” for the support they have had from the community.

Karen Maley, link co-ordinator at Enable, said: “Even though it rained, the morale was still high with everyone helping out.

“There were parents there from the school, as well as some of the pupils too. We needed as many volunteers as possible because of the size of the task and it was a fantastic turnout.

“I just want to thank everyone who came along to help out, the young people from the group, the school and other schools. Everyone did a really great job.”
