Volunteers needed to help clean up streets and trails

Following similar initiatives in Milton of Campsie and Lennoxtown, a group of Kirkintilloch residents are organising a litter pick on Saturday, April 18, from 10am.

Those wanting to join in have been asked to meet at the town’s Barleybank Car Park.The group organising the event are Kirkintilloch Action, who operate under the umbrella of Kirkintilloch Community Council.

A spokesperson for the group told the Herald: “After the great work which as been done in other parts of East Dunbartonshire we decided to take some positive action to join the dots on the map and help make East Dunbartonshire as a whole a nicer place for people to live.”

While it is billed as a one-off event, the organisers say that if enough people are interested, more could be held.
