Volunteers wanted to help charity run away with cash

A CHARITY is asking people to put on their running shoes and take part in events which will raise awareness and funds for them.

Action for Children Scotland is challenging people to take part in the Great Scottish Run on Sunday, September 2.

Runners can either tackle a 10k or go that bit further with a half marathon around Glasgow.

If you don’t fancy this race, the charity is also encouraging people to take part in the Baxters Loch Ness Marathon on Sunday, September 30 which gives participants the opportunity to enjoy truly breathtaking scenery - whilst keeping fit, raising vital funds and watching out for Nessie.

Hilary Canto, fundraiser at Action for Children Scotland, said: “Through our services we support some of the most vulnerable children, young people and families across the country - but we need your support to continue our life changing work.

“We would like people from North Lanarkshire who are taking part in either the Great Scottish Run or the Loch Ness Marathon to consider running in aid of Action for Children Scotland. We will provide a running vest and fundraising pack – and our team will be there on the day to cheer you on.

“And if any North Lanarkshire residents think they are up to completing both events please do let us know. It’s a monster challenge but it could make a real difference to vulnerable and neglected children and young people in your area.”
