The whistleblower who contacted the Gazette also stated that staff at Woodhurst Care Home, at Old Bridgend, were disheartened and wanted to involve The Advisory, Conciliation and Arbitration Service (ACAS) in the dispute.

Our source, who asked not to be named, said: “The care staff were paid the Minimum Wage of £6.31 per hour which went up to £6.50 per hour at the start of October.

“Staff were paid the entire month of October on £6.31 per hour rather than the new Minimum Wage.

“I know one staff member has already contacted the authorites about this.

“I called the Minimum Wage people and they suggested that the staff should name and shame the company into taking some kind of action.”

But a spokeswoman for the home said that the company had done nothing wrong.

She told the Gazette that the payroll cycle for the Woodhurst team ran from September 29 to October 26; therefore, the National Minimum Wage increase had been applied for hours worked from the following month’s payroll date which began on October 27.
