Around 80 people turned out to help smash a £10,000 '¨fundraising target for a group of unsung heroes in the '¨community.

The Walk with Us challenge from Bishopbriggs to Kirkintilloch was one of several walks throughout East Dunbartonshire to support

Participants either walked 13 miles from Milngavie to Kirkintilloch via Strathblane and Lennoxtown, or took part in the three-and-a-half-mile family-friendly walk along the canal from Bishopbriggs to Kirkintilloch, on Saturday, April 23.

A spokesperson for Carers Link said: “In East Dunbartonshire, one person in eight is a carer, and in our lifetime, three out of five of us will have experience of caring.

“We would like to thank all those who walked with us and all the volunteers who helped make the event a success

“Also, a big thank you to the local businesses who supported the walkers with refreshments:

People who signed up had various reasons for doing the walk, from challenging themselves to walk 13 miles to spending time with their family, but all wanted to support
carers by raising as much money as possible.”
