Walton Court welcomes festival of lights
East Ren’s Jewish community welcomed in Chanukah with the lighting of the menorah and a feast at L’Chaim’s Restaurant in Giffnock.
Rabbi Mendel Jacobs is pictured lighting the menorah candles on the second night of the festival of lights, at sheltered housing complex Walton Court. Residents and those attending the Shul in the Park evening service were then invited to a celebration with traditional Chanukah foods served.
In a celebratory message in last week’s Extra, Rabbi Jacobs wrote: “May this Chanukah embolden us to do what is right, shine a light on the miracles we enjoy, and kindle in all of us the desire to share those miracles with others.”
