War hero Felix Morris finally recognised

A HEROIC war veteran has been recognised for his part in the D-Day landings more than 60 years ago.

Felix Morris (88) was serving on a light cruiser providing artillery

support for the landings on the beaches of Normandy while serving with the Royal Navy.

His bravery has now been recognised by the Normandy Council with a Normandy Bar and badge.

But modest Felix, of Pettinain, insists he was only doing his duty.

He said: "It was something we had to do and I was proud to be part of it."

Rural Clydesdale MP David Mundell presented Felix with his badge.

David said: "I was delighted to be asked by Normandy Council to

present the Normandy Bar and commemorative badge to Mr Morris and also a personal letter from the council's president, Admiral La Perriere.

"It is great that the heroic efforts this war veteran made all those years ago in France have been officially recognised."
